After Francisco Rodriquez was hit with criminal charges on Wednesday after breaking an order of protection barring him from contacting his estranged girlfiend, I thought the topic would be ripe for “Open”. An order of protection is a court order that is designed to stop violent and harassing behavior and to protect you and your family from an abuser. Remember, in NY, you can get an order of protection in Family Court, Criminal Court, or Supreme Court. But member, not everyone is eligible to apply in Supreme Court, so make sure you head to the proper venue. David Lesch Esq.

Bed bugs have been a parasite of humans throughout written history. They feed on the blood of animals, including people and pets. Way back in April of 2007 I appeared on the morning show “Open”, and discussed a tenant’s right to sue their landlord for a bed bug infestation. This morning I once again broached the topic. The critters seem to be everywhere these days. I am putting the video of my interview on this site soon. The best advice I can give you now is to document everything. And make sure the hospital correctly diagnoses your bite. Many times a landlord will try to defend a case by suggesting that the tenant was bit by a different insect. David Lesch Esq.

The New York City Arraignment process can be very confusing. This morning on “Open”, I continued my Criminal Law series and gave tips/advice during the 24hr. period of arrest through arraignment. The best thing you could do, get a private criminal lawyer. It might be the best money you ever spend. David Lesch Esq.

State? Better not get behind a wheel if you are even slightly incapacitated as a result of drugs or alcohol. David Lesch
